Scent Control is one the most important factors when hunting bears. Whether utilize a calling technique or spot and stalk a hunter must consider wind and the impressive power of a bear’s nose. It is well documented that bears can actually smell 7 times greater than a bloodhound and 2,100 times greater than humans. The Nasal Membrane in a bears head is one hundred times larger than in a human’s when you couple that with a unique organ called the Jacobson’s organ in the roof of their mouth you are dealing with one of the greatest noses on the planet and a bear’s best defense mechanism.
